Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 April 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of petroinfong.org and the products and services provided by the Centre for Petroleum Information (“CPI”, “we”, “our” or “us”), including industry reports, market intelligence, CPI membership, training & certification programmes and events & conferences (together, the “Service”). Please read them carefully.
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, placing an order, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Access & Delivery Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
You represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract. Where you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.
Use of the service
When using the Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your account credentials confidential and not share login access.
- Use the Service only for lawful business or research purposes.
- Not redistribute, resell, sublicense, post publicly, or train AI / ML models on any CPI report, dataset, intelligence feed or training material without our prior written consent.
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, circumvent rate limits, or interfere with the security or integrity of the Service.
- Not impersonate any other person or organisation.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with or without notice, and recover damages where redistribution has occurred.
Orders, pricing and payment
- Prices are listed on each product page in your selected currency. CPI publishes prices in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and United States Dollars (USD); conversions between currencies are indicative and the final charge is in the currency processed by our payment partner at checkout.
- Payments are processed by TransactPay, a CBN-licensed Nigerian payment processor. By submitting payment details you authorise the charge.
- All prices are exclusive of any applicable VAT or withholding tax, which is added at checkout where required.
- A successful order is confirmed by an order-confirmation email and a transaction reference. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order in cases of suspected fraud, sanctions screening, or pricing error.
- CPI Membership is sold on a recurring annual basis unless otherwise stated and renews automatically on the anniversary date; you may cancel future renewals from your account dashboard before that date.
Intellectual property
All content made available through the Service — including reports, datasets, charts, briefings, training materials, branding, and the petroinfong.org site itself — is the intellectual property of CPI or its licensors and is protected by Nigerian and international copyright, database and trademark laws.
When you purchase a report or membership, CPI grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for the named purchaser (and, where expressly priced, the named organisation’s employees) to access and use the content for internal research and decision-making only. All other rights are reserved. Quoting short extracts (under 200 words) for non-commercial commentary is permitted with attribution to the “Centre for Petroleum Information”.
Refunds and cancellations
Refund and cancellation rights for digital reports, intelligence feeds, memberships, training and events are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Disclaimers
CPI’s research is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment, legal, tax or other professional advice. While we use reasonable care to ensure data accuracy, the Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CPI’s aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period shall not exceed the total amount you paid to CPI in that period. CPI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive or special damages, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of data, or trading losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold CPI, its directors, employees and contractors harmless from and against any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your unauthorised redistribution of CPI content.
Changes to terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. For material changes we will give at least 14 days’ notice by email to active account holders. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria. Where required by local consumer-protection law, you may have additional rights that these Terms do not limit.
